Cornerstone Mexico Manual Solves Franchise Challenge

MEXICO CITY – May 26, 2014 – Grupo Selección Corporativa, the Mexican office of Cornerstone International Group, has developed a remote job evaluation and recruitment process for high-end franchise staffing needs.

Talent Selection ManualIts client Interaqua has been established for 30 years offering integrated learn-to-swim programs specializing in babes, children, and older people just learning how to swim. The company wanted to franchise its specialized knowledge but the very specific personnel skills required posed an important barrier.

“It was not practical for us to conduct in-person evaluations across a growing franchise operations,” explained Julieta Gomez, founding partner of the retained search recruiter. “So finally we decided that the required franchise staffing and HR process could be put in a manual which the franchise operator can use to build a solid and appropriate leadership team.”

The resulting Talent Selection System developed by Susana Volnié, Blanca Gutierrez and Guadalupe Díaz of GSC is a one-of-a-kind, step by step instruction manual. It starts with a detailed profile of the underlying requirements including the mission, vision and values of the Interaqua franchise system, franchise operating models and functional description of five core positions for each franchise.

The manual includes income levels, talent selection maps, hiring processes and documents. The largest section details the evaluation procedures which include technical tests, psychometric exams, interview evaluation and guides for investigating work references.

“We’re very happy with the results,” says Cecilia Gonzalez, co-owner of Interaqua. “The quality of the franchise operations was a big concern to us. We’ve just sold the first franchise and we think the HR manual has played an important role in making that a success.”
