I am an ICF certified coach and the majority of my clients are executives in multinational companies with regional, national or international mandates. Many are working in China or have strategic responsibility for China/Asia Pacific. These are extremely demanding times for these HR Leaders, Operational Managers and Corporate Executives.
For many, leadership development is a key issue for their organizations. The CEO of a successful MNC was dissatisfied with the performance of one of his VPs. The company had grown very quickly and this VP was not managing well. With so much growth, the CEO had to focus his energies managing the international challenges, and was not able to manage his direct reports. This lack of exchange was hurting the performance of not only the VP I was coaching, but the performance of the entire executive team.
Although the mandate focused on one of the VPs, I met regularly with the CEO (often by phone) who came to recognize the complexity of the situation, and his responsibility in it.
As a result, the CEO changed the company structure. The Executive Team no longer reports to the CEO, but to a newly created position, Managing Director for China. This allows the CEO time to continue to play his critical role directing the organization at the strategic level.
The new MD for China has realigned the roles of the executive team and, we are planning an off-site team coaching session with the entire executive team.
I have over 25 years of management experience, including 11 years of experience at Cornerstone Executive Search in Montreal, Canada, most recently as Vice President. Prior to that I held executive positions in the Design, Manufacturing & Property Management industries in Montreal, where I began as a young entrepreneur. I now live and work in Beijing, China.
My strength is in building consensus with Global Leaders. Working with cross-cultural teams, I have led groups in Leadership Training and Development; with training and follow-up, coaching skills are effectively utilized by management to improve communication and increase both productivity and profitability.
