I have over 20 years of experience as an executive coach, team development coach and career strategy coach. Some specific areas of strength are interpersonal dynamics, communication and the psychology of change. When the channels of communication are flowing smoothly employees collaborate and the business prospers. I help leaders to model effective communication, get communication unstuck where there are bottlenecks and ensure that teams are working well together and achieving results.
All levels of employee are important to the success of your organization and I enjoy coaching engagements with diverse groups, teams and individuals from high potentials to managers to VPs to C-Suite. My work with teams includes executive retreats, team coaching, and working with integrated project teams to ensure that those teams are considering all stakeholders, risks and solutions to the problems they are tasked with solving.
An example of results was a project where I helped the insurance product division of a global company to improve internal communication and collaboration. There had been a history of competitiveness and individuals not sharing crucial information with other team members. This caused duplication of effort, inefficiencies and a negative perception by customers.
The solution including coaching of the senior executive of that team to improve his ability to hold team members accountable to certain values (such as serving the customer, collaboration and a focus on business results vs. individual stardom). I then provided a multi-session team development program using the MBTI Team Type model as well as other tools and frameworks. The sessions were spent working on the real work of the team and improving communication and collaboration in the context of that work.
Several months later the executive and the team provided feedback that they were a happier team, they trusted one another more, were working more efficiently and were sharing information with one another.
I have been an executive, team and career coach for over 20 years. Early in my career I was a manager at a small business supervising a team of employees. I have been a practice leader and account executive for a professional services firm bringing in millions of dollars of business and achieving repeat business year over year.
I am a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coach Federation (ICF). I am also a Certified Action Learning Coach through the World Institute for Action Learning and hold a Certificate in Peer Coaching through Action Learning Source. I am certified in a variety of assessment tools including the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), StrengthsFinder, FIRO-B, and numerous 360 degree feedback tools.
None of us will ever change what we do until we change the way we are thinking about the situation. I help my clients to expand their thinking so that they can make good decisions vs. relying on old habits, assumptions and limiting beliefs.
I have a positive psychology and strengths-based approach to my coaching. I believe that we all bring our strengths and talents to work each day and that leaders get better results by being more of who they are vs. trying to be something they are not.
Self-awareness is key. We all need to know our strengths as well as our blind spots. I provide direct feedback, ask questions to ensure that we are looking at all possible approaches and help my clients to authentic, value-based leadership.
