I have over twenty years in Learning and Development as well as career coaching individuals across the U.S., in Shanghai, China, St. Croix, USVI, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Coaching individuals and teams to be their best, manage conflict and succeed in their careers and organizations is my passion. My clients are professionals and leaders who want to become more effective and find the job satisfaction they seek.
A fire chief wanted to leave the fire services after being in a leadership role for years. He wanted to try out a non-profit. He was able to find a new job out of state as executive director of nonprofit camp for children. It was through coaching him on his resume, LinkedIn profile, finding transferrable skills and practicing interviewing that he got the most value for that career change. In a short time he was able to meet his goals.
My background includes professional work in education, government, non-profit, corporate and entrepreneurial sectors. I have held positions as a supervisor, training manager and president. Some positions required influencing others that were not direct reports. Working in the media (Tampa Bay Times), colleges (SPC, UT, ECKERD, USF) and manufacturing such as Harley-Davidson, JBT, and Osram. Enjoy career coaching with those out-placed from their former jobs and their partners/spouses.
I am a certified career coach with a Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation counseling and education. Also certified as a Diversity Awareness facilitator by the Newspaper Association of America, a master trainer in several training programs and an adjunct professor in colleges, my own experience can support the learning and growth of my clients.
Initially an assessment and thorough interview to determine needs are priorities in my approach to tailor coaching and resources to each client. As a certified Myers-Briggs practitioner, a master trainer for many training programs and the Conflict Dynamics Profile, I excel at helping clients identify factors that can lead to their success while diminishing barriers. I use a relationship-building approach. I use the Goal, Reality, Options, Will (GROW) model with clients. Encouraging and supporting them while holding them accountable for their own action toward meeting their goals is my approach.
